Ronald L. Pattison, CPA, President
Ron graduated from the University of Montana with a B.A. in Business Administration specializing in Accounting. After graduating, Ron moved to New Mexico in 1982 working in Public Accounting and received his CPA Certificate in August of 1984. Ron has specialized in the design and administration of Defined Contribution Plans (DC), specifically ERISA Safe Harbor & Non-Safe Harbor 401(k) Plans & Non-ERISA Governmental 401(k) Plans, Prevailing Wage\Davis Bacon Plans, ERISA 403(b) & Non-ERISA 403(b), 457, Money Purchase Pension, Profit Sharing Plans with & without Cross Tested allocation formulas and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP). Ron also consults on a new trend called “ROBS” or RollOvers as Business Startup” arrangements working with local attorneys to set up the corporate structures needed to prevent the transaction being a “Prohibited Transaction”. This technique is used for Purchasing a Company with funds from a Retirement Account using Rollover Funds. Ron also has been consulting on Defined Benefit Plans (DB) since PPS opened its doors and has added Cash Balance Defined Benefit Plans in 2006 which work well as standalone plans or as two plan combination plans with 401(k) plans. Ron has administered Cafeteria Plans and Flexible Benefit Accounts (FSA) since 1995 and has recently added HSA and HRA to PPS’s capabilities with the addition of a Debit Card system. He was the manager a Defined Contribution practice group in the Albuquerque Office of a national consulting firm. Ron left that practice in December of 1990 to start Pattison Pension Specialists, Inc. Ron has served on the Board of a Public Company beginning in 2006 continuing through 2014.
During his personal time Ron enjoys his family time with his wife Sandra of 11 years and his two children Marrisa 10 and Lyman (Ronnie) 8. He volunteers as an assistant coach on Lyman’s Rookie Baseball team and belongs to the Rio Grande Rotary Club. Ron is an avid Lobo’s Basketball and Football fan and attends a dozen Isotope games every summer.
John Etchart, CPA, Vice President
Originally from Montana, John moved to Albuquerque and joined Pattison Pension (PPS) in January of 2007. After graduating from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico with a Bachelors in Business Administration (Accounting), John went on to obtain a CPA Certificate. He specializes in Defined Contribution (DC) Plan administration, including Safe Harbor & Non Safe Harbor 401(k) Plans, ERISA & Non-ERISA 403(b) Plans, 457 and Profit Sharing Plans with & without a Cross Tested Allocation Formula. John was promoted to Consultant in January of 2011. His responsibilities also include prospective client plan design and oversight of the IT systems and offsite back-ups.
Robyn Albin, Consultant
Robyn joined PPS in 2000. She has an associate’s degree in accounting and over 20 years of accounting experience – ranging from retail bookkeeping to corporate accounting manager. Robyn specializes in the administration of Defined Contribution Plans (DC) including Safe Harbor and Non-Safe Harbor 401(k) Plans, Governmental Plans, Prevailing Wage\Davis Bacon Plans, Defined Benefits Plans, Cash Balance Defined Benefit Plans, and Employee Stock Option Plans (ESOP). Robyn also handles PBGC filings for clients and has recently attended a Continuing Education Course in Chicago on Cash Balance Defined Benefit Plans.
Kathi Hatcher, Consultant
Kathi has over 25 years experience in employee benefits and pension plan administration. Her background is in corporate human resources and bank trust departments. Kathi Joined PPS in 2004. Kathi specializes in the administration of Defined Contribution Plans (DC) including Safe Harbor and Non-Safe Harbor 401(k) Plans, Prevailing Wage\Davis Bacon Plans, ERISA and Non-ERISA 403(b) Plans and Profit Sharing Plans with & without a Cross Tested Allocation Formula.
T. James Torres, CPA, Plan Consultant
James joined Pattison Pension Specialists in April of 2012. He is a CPA with over 26 years of experience in Finance and Accounting with the City of Albuquerque, including 9 years of Risk Finance. He received is BBA from the University of New Mexico Robert O. Anderson School of Management in 1984. James specializes in Defined Contribution (DC) Plan administration including Safe Harbor and Non-Safe Harbor 401(k) Plans with & without a Cross Tested Allocation formula, ERISA & Non-ERISA 403(b) Plans.
